Manuka Benefits

What makes UMF Manuka honey standout

Honey has been sort after for its unique healing properties for thousands of years. More recently, scientists discovered that particular plant species give honey more qualities, like the honey from  Manuka trees in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

With its unique properties, so good for human wellbeing, Manuka honey has become one of the world’s most researched and sought-after varieties of honey. The non-peroxide activity, as Dr Peter Molan of New Zealand’s Waikato University named it, is 100 times more stable and potent than any other honey.

Real Manuka Honey

It all starts with sustainable farming and beekeeping.

We forego conventional farming techniques favouring sustainable practices that preserve and enhance the environment. Native Manuka trees on our farm produce an abundance of nectar, while our beekeepers take care of hundreds of hives with bees spread around 2000 hectares of our farm.

We manage the entire production and packing process.

The extraction, bottling and hand-packing take place in our production facility near Auckland.

Manuka is thick honey, so we use a machine called a ‘pricker’ to prick into each cell of a honey frame to extract the honey. Then, to retain the natural qualities of Manuka honey, we load honeycombs into a centrifuge machine that spins the contents causing the honey to separate from the wax comb.
Next, we hand-pack and prepare each jar of the gold liquid for delivery, ensuring that the Manuka honey you receive is genuine and of the best quality.

Uncompromised and certified quality

We are part of the Unique Manuka Factor Honey Association, a New Zealand Government approved independent organisation that certifies only the best quality Manuka honey with their UMF grading system.

This system is the most comprehensive, trusted, and widely used Manuka honey grading in the world. It is used by more than 80% of the New Zealand honey industry.

HOW TO USE MANUKA

Sore Throat – Manuka honey is a unique super-food that can help soothe a nasty cough or cold and reduce inflammation when used with warm water and lemon or just a tablespoon straight from the jar. Our family’s morning routine is a cup of warm water with a squeeze of lemon, one teaspoon of ginger, and, of course, a one-heaped teaspoon of UMF 15+ Manuka Honey (or more if you want it stronger!)

Upset Tummy- Try mixing one tablespoon of Manuka honey with a warm drink to help with your digestive wellbeing.

Natural face mask – Manuka honey hydrates the skin while providing moisture with its natural proteins, vitamins and minerals. In addition, it contains antioxidants. Once you have cleansed your face, smooth on about half a teaspoon of Manuka honey. Leave on for 2 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Burns- Manuka honey’s antibacterial properties help protect a burn from infection and make it a lot less sore. It can help repair damaged skin.

My young daughter burnt herself two days ago on the stove. We put it under running water for an hour and then applied UMF 15+ Manuka honey all over her hand; the next day, she was back using it as usual.Cuts and scapes honey has been used on wounds since ancient times. It has proven antimicrobial properties that support wound healing.
